WoW Pet Guide
If you're playing a Hunter or a
Warlock, your greatest assets are your pets. In this WoW
pet guide I'll talk about how to get the best pets and how
to use them in the best way for maximum effect.
The primary focus of this WoW pet guide is on the Hunter.
Pets are so important for Hunters because the Hunter must make
ranged attacks to cause maximum damage to enemies. While they
are also vulnerable to close-up melee attacks. Pets serve the
function of distracting opponents and acting as tanks (fighting
close quarter melee combat to absorb damage and keep opponents
occupied). It's the same with Warlocks who must keep their
distance from opponents to blast them with magic.
The fundamental difference between the pets used by Warlocks
and by Hunters is that Warlock pets are Guardian Pets - they
are summoned and will always do their master's bidding. Hunter
pets are Companions - they are wild animals that are tamed and
will fight by the Hunter's side as long as they are well-fed
and happy.
Hunters use the Tame Beast ability to tame wild animals and
convince them to follow them. As you spend more time fighting
beside your pet and your loyalty to eachother grows, you can
spend points on pet abilities, if you specialise in Beast
Mastery. It's important to keep your pet happy as happier pets
deal more damage! to keep it happy keep it well-fed. This is
why fishing is a great profession for a Hunter to learn as it
supplies free pet food at any time.
WoW Pet Guide for the Hunter
The animals your Hunter can tame and make a pet come in
three different categories: Cunning Pets (versatile, fast
fighters with useful abilities), Ferocity (pets all about
damage) and Tenacity (animals with high health and very good at
staying alive - Tanks).
Some Cunning Pets are bats, spiders, birds of prey,
serpents, Silithids, ravagers, dragonhawks. Some Ferocity pets
are wasps, carrion birds, raptors, hyenas, great cats and
wolves. And some Tenacity pets are Bears, boars, gorillasm
crabs, crokolisks and turtles.
Unforunately you can only have one pet with you at a time,
but you can keep up to 4 in your stable. In this WoW pet guide,
I'd recommend that it's usually best to go for a tenacity pet
for tanking and defending you at the beginning. Tenacity pets
are the best tanks and you need a tank for soloing as a Hunter.
Get yourself a bear and you won't get attacked much - as this
WoW pet guide is aimed more to beginner players, that's the
number one piece of advice I want to give. In PvP you have
other players to tank for you, so you can have more fun with
the animals you keep. But that's later on in the game.
Some of the best pets in Azeroth are Exotic Pets - these you
can only tame when you are level 51 in beast mastery. The
Tenacity ones are the Rhino and worms. Cunning ones are
Silithids and Chimeras. And the Ferocity Exotic Pets are Core
Hounds, Devilsaurs and Spirit Beasts. There are plenty more
rare beasts out there. It's a lot of fun tryig to find the best
of them.
Here are some of my favourite rare animals out there, which
you can try to tame: Kurmokk (lvl 42 Gorilla, find him in
Stranglethorn Vale), King Krush (lvl 75 Devilsaur in the
Sholazar Basin), Broken Tooth (lvl 37 cat in the Badlands),
Grunter (lvl 50 Boar in the Blasted Lands) and Old Vicejaw (lvl
14 Bear in Silverpine Forest).
The Warlock learns to summon more and more powerful demonic
creatures to his or her side as they progress. See the
WoW Warlock Guide for a
more detailed description of the demons.
