Mounts cost money to purchase and for the training to ride. Many players spend too much money on other things when they reach around level 40, and don't save for a mount - try to make saving for a mount a priority.

The epic mounts you get by race are:

• Drenai epic mount: The Great Blue, Green and Purple Elekk - a tough, armored elephant like creature.
• Dwarf epic mount: The Swift Ram - fast and packing a punch.
• Gnome epic mount: Swift Mechanostrider - giant mechanical bird with a long step.
• Human epic mount: The swift steeds and the Palomino - fast and powerful horses.
• Night Elf Epic Mount: The swift Frostsaber, Mistsaber and Stormsaber - fearsome sabertooth tigers.
• Blood Elf epic mount: The Swift Hawkstriders - colourful giant walking birds.
• Orc epic mount: The Swift Wolves - giant wolves.
• Tauren epic mount: Great Kodos -  fearsome, horned dinasaur-type creatures.
• Troll epic mount: Swift raptors - fast, velocitor raptor-type dinasaurs.
• Undead epic mount: Skeletal warhorses

Paladins and warlocks each have their own specific mounts that the other clases can't have. The paladins get a warhorse or a charger - powerful warhorses. Warlocks get felsteeds or dreadsteeds - magical horses with flaming hooves. Warlocks, Paladins and Death Knights can all summon their own mounts.

WoW Mount Guide to Flying Mounts

Everybody really wants a flying mount - these mounts are the best type as you can cover gound incredibly quickly, avoiding all obstacles if you choose. Each side Alliace and Horde, get their own flyers - the Alliance has Gryphons, and the Horde has Windriders: fearsome looking creatures that look half bat, half dragon.

There are a huge amount of mounts out there to be found. Some are acquired through gaining reputation, some are holiday mounts, others are profession mounts. Rare Drop Mounts

• The Swift Razzashi Raptor (unbelievably fast raptor) - drops from Bloodlord Mandokir 1.2% of the time.
• The Black Qiraji Battle Tank (an armored beetle) - No longer possible to acquire.
• The Amani War Bear - drops form the 4th chest in Zul'Aman 100% of the time.
• The Swift Hawkstrider (a super-speedy giant bird) - drops from Kael'thas in Heroic Magisters' Terrace 2% of the time.
