This is part two of this WoW Money Guide, for part one
go to WoW Gold
Guide
Most transactions take place in
Auction Houses in World of Warcraft. And this is where you
will make most of your income. Like any business in the
real world, making good money in WoW is just a matter of
finding the right thing that is in demand and getting hold
of it at low cost to sell at auction for a high cost.
The best way to do this is through your professions, as we
talked about in part one of this WoW Money Guide. Now here are
some more tactics that you can use to raise gold fast for your
character:
Farming
This is not what it sounds like. Farming in WoW is a tactic
that higher level characters use to make gold by killing named
bosses repeatedly to try and get the gold or items they drop -
to sell at the auction house, or by running instant quests
repeatedly. You can also do this with Daily Quests (see
Daily Quest Guide).
Rare items that drop from bosses only drop a certain
percentage of the time. So this technique can be very
lucrative, but overall it is probably better to use normal
gathering or crafting - profession based money making
techniques. they are reliable and consistent money-earners.
If you do want to try out farming, here are a few WoW Money
Guide tips: Always try to sell on Frday, Saturday or Sunday.
Put the item up on Friday for a 24 time fram, and repeat on
Saturday if it hasn't gone. Advertise every 30 minutes or
so.
It's also better to run through lower-level quests for lower
level items. Remember with farming it's about how many times
you can do the run, not just how valuable the item is, so time
yourself and work out how much gold you are making per hour of
you time. If it's less that 30, just go fishing instead!
Buy Low Sell High
Here you're going to become a real WoW Entrepreneur - this
is one of the more advanced techniques of this WoW Money guide.
You'll need at least 10 Gold to get started at this, and you
will have to have a good feel for how much things are worth.
Simply buy items for a lower price than you can get and sell
them for a higher than average price.
People that do this watch the trade channels in their city -
for wanting to sells (WTS). These are motivated sellers that
want to sell their item right now, not wait for bidding, etc.
Send them a private message with a low offer, and negotiate to
get it for as low as possible. Make sure you keep an eye on the
Auction House - you must always buy the item for lower than you
know you can sell it for. You have to know what it is worth and
how fast it will sell.
When you have bought the item, you want to sell high. Like
our advice before, sell it at the weekend. Always sell on
Friday. Maybe people's spirits are high, or there are just so
many more players online, but items go for more. Also, unlike
the previous seller you are patient and can wait 24 hours for
the best bid.
When you get really good at this you can earn up to 1,000
gold in a day. So it's a skill worth cultivating. And always be
on your toes - if you see something on sale for less than it
can go for, buy it in a flash, do this automatically. Or
someone else will profit from it instead!
