WoW Druid Guide
Druids are the least played of
character classes in WoW. But in this WoW Druid guide I'll
explain how they are the best class you can choose to play
if you want diversity and versatility in your
character.
The powerful Druid class is limited only to the Tauren and
Night Elf races - those races closest to nature. Druids are
masters of nature and servants of the world. They have powerful
healing magic and other spells related to nature, which
can hugely bolster our combat power and defence or deal
terrrific damage to opponents. But as you'll learn in this WoW
Druid guide, Druids are most famous for their
excellent shape-shifting abilities.
This is what makes them the most versatile of classes, as a
Druid can be a spell-caster in one moment, and a roaring bear
the next - deadly in close up melee combat.
Druids have been one of the less popular character classes
to play but not because they are weak. Druids are great fun and
very powerful characters. But the diversity of roles a Druid
can be is off-putting to many people, who perhaps prefer more
focus as they develop, and also the limitation of only two
races. They are a tough class to master, but great fun if you
can, and you get to play a slightly rarer character class.
Druids Specialisations
Feral Druids are the most famous form of Druid - they can
turn into several different animal forms. All of these forms
you purchase from an animal trainer, except the Bear form,
which you get from a Druid Quest (see the link to WoW Druid
Guide Leveling below).
The forms are extensive, including Bear form, Cat form, Dire
Bear, Aquatic, Travel forms and Flight forms.
If you play a Druid that develops the Feral specialisation,
you will most commonly turn into a Cat or a Bear. Tha cat form
is a Lynx or a Lion - and the Druid gains similar abilities to
the Rogue class - able to use stealth and leap in to do
devastating damage to opponents. The Bear form turns the Druid
into a terrible melee fighting machine, able to deal out and
withstand great damage, acting like a Warrior. Druids cannot
cast spells while shapeshifted.
Balance Druids focus more on developing damage spells and
some very cool special abilities like the Moonkin form - which
allows them to turn into a shadowy creature with enhanced spell
damage and plate mail defence.
And Restoration Druids focus on the Tree of Life - an area
of Druid magic whic deals with healing. They can cast the only
in-combat resurrection spell, and have the best spells for
healing people over time in the game. Think carefully which
direction you would most enjoy playing as you begin your Druid.
Druids maybe rare but are very popular in PvP because of their
versatility. They can be the strongest tank (melee damage
taker) one moment, the strongest healer the next moment, and a
real damage-dealer the next. As this WoW Druid guide is mainly
for payers relatively new to WoW, I'd highly recommend starting
with a Druid character.
Easy Travel
One of my favourite things about playing a Druid is that
they do not need to buy mounts, they become mounts. And they
can travel as fast as any mount in the game. The ability to
travel fast is one of the most important things in WoW, and
most character classes have to spend a great deal of money on
good mounts.
WoW Druid Guide to Speed
A level 16 quest gives Druids their Aquatic form -
allowing them to travel and breathe under water.
At level 21 Druids can put 2 Talent points into Feral
Swiftness for +30% running speed.
At level 30 they gain travel form (40% faster)
At level 68 Flight Form is possible - allowing
them to fly the same speed as a normal flying mount.
And Swift Flight Form gives them Epic Mount speed. They
can get this at level 71 from a trainer, or by buying
Artisan Rider and finishing a few quests.
